2021 Gustavus Adolphus College student production entitled “Megan & Meghan”, loosely adapted from Plautus’ “Menaechmi.” The setting and script for this interpretation was inspired by the 1980s films of John Hughes, such as “The Breakfast Club”, which have not necessarily aged well. Students saw in the plays of Plautus jokes and innuendos that might not sit well with a modern audience, but they also saw also plot elements and profound insights into human nature that have stood the test of time. Due to the hybrid nature of this Spring 2021 course, under then-ongoing COVID restrictions, when several students were not on campus, the production was filmed with TikTok and released as a YouTube video, which premiered on April 21st via Zoom. Its principal creator, Katherine Brostrom, has now marked this video as “private.” I have sought her permission to share this video with a wider audience and for its publication.
